UofL College of Arts and Sciences to present Community Spirit Awards

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville’s College of Arts and Sciences will recognize three Louisville residents and a longtime community partner for their community service April 27 during a downtown awards ceremony.

    The Community Spirit Awards presentation and reception will be at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St. The event will begin with a 5:30-6:45 p.m. reception with the 6:45 -7:30 p.m. awards program to follow, all in the View Pointe Room. Although the public event is free, registration is required by April 21 by contacting Clest Lanier at 502-852-3042 or cvlani01@louisville.edu.

    The awards honor people who show a sustained commitment to improving the quality of life of community citizens and students and whose civic engagement and social responsibility extend beyond their expected service.

    The 2017 Community Spirit Awards will go to:

    ·       District 5 Metro Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton

    ·       Jerald Muhammad, community activist and volunteer

    ·       Karina Barillas, La Casita Center director and Hispanic-Latin@ Coalition co-president

    ·       The Yearlings Club Inc., a civic club that offers a monthly discussion series with the College of Arts and Sciences, organized by the college’s international, diversity and engagement programs office.
