UofL College of Arts and Sciences to present community awards

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville’s College of Arts and Sciences will recognize five Louisville residents for their community service May 16 during a downtown awards ceremony.

    The Arts and Sciences Community Appreciation Awards presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St. The invitation-only event will include a reception afterward.

    The awards honor people who show a commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens of Louisville and Jefferson County. The program is hosted by the college’s international, diversity and engagement programs office and the Yearlings Club Inc. civic club, which also offer a monthly discussion series together.

    The 2018 Community Appreciation Awards will go to:

    • District 3 Metro Councilwoman Mary Woolridge
    • Deborah Williams, vice president and market manager for community development banking, PNC Financial Services
    • Peter Holloway, producing artistic director, StageOne Family Theatre
    • Jose Neil Donis, publisher, Al Dia en America newspaper
    • The Rev. Geoffrey Ellis, retired pastor and community activist
