Kentucky Women’s Book Festival brings together readers, writers

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The ultimate book club meeting will occur when readers and writers convene for the 8th Annual Kentucky Women’s Book Festival at the University of Louisville.

    Author presentations, book sales and signings and a luncheon will give participants a chance to connect over their favorite pastimes: reading, writing and talking about books, Saturday, May 17 at Ekstrom Library. Doors open at 9 a.m. with refreshments and socializing in the lobby. The festival ends at 3:30 p.m.

    The opening speaker at 9:30 a.m. will be George Ella Lyon. She will discuss her book of poems, “Many-Storied House.” Lyon’s poems tell the story of the house that her grandfather built 68 years ago in eastern Kentucky.

    Brandy Warren is coordinator for marketing and communications in UofL’s Office of Communications and Marketing, where she manages special events and promotes UofL’s Division of Student Affairs. She previously worked at daily newspapers in Kentucky and Alabama.
