UofL's All-Girl Cheerleading Squad won its eighth consecutive NDA/NCA Collegiate Championship last week.

The University of Louisville spirit squads won two national championships last week at the NCA/NDA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Louisville All Girl and the Small Co-Ed squads both defended their titles from a year ago. 

The University of Louisville All-Girl Cheerleading Squad held out to win their eighth consecutive NDA/NCA Collegiate Championship with a score of 96.6829, edging Oklahoma State’s 96.5787. The All-Girl squad has now won in 18 National Cheer Association championships, including 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 (no 2020 competition), 2021 and 2022. The top nine teams in the competition were:

  1. Louisville
  2. Oklahoma State
  3. South Carolina
  4. Clemson
  5. Missouri
  6. Indiana
  7. Maryland
  8. Coastal Carolina
  9. Iowa State

Louisville’s Small Co-Ed continued its reign as a perennial threat, winning its 12th title with a score of 96.294. Louisville has taken top honors in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 (no 2020  competition), 2021 and now 2022. The top nine teams in the competition were: 

  1. Louisville
  2. NC State
  3. Arkansas State
  4. BYU
  5. Marshall
  6. Clemson
  7. UNC Charlotte
  8. UT San Antonio
  9. Georgia Tech

Additionally, UofL’s Large Coed squad finished third with a score of 97.1481. Oklahoma State was first with 97.628, followed by Texas State. 
 
The Ladybirds ranked fourth in the finals of the Team Performance Competition with a score of 92.98 behind the winning score of 94.68 from South Carolina, followed by Iowa State and NC State.

UofL’s Ladybirds finished second at the NDA National Championships in the Hip Hop Division IA. The Cardinals tied BYU with a score of 98.4286 but the Cougar’s raw score of 68.9 beat UofL’s 67.5.
