Louisvillians won’t know who the next mayor will be until the November election, but there was a similar message from the 11 mayoral candidates who appeared at a forum March 30 in a packed Chao Auditorium.

The mayoral candidates answered questions from the audience that focused on sustainability and economic development. UofL sponsored the 90-minute forum in conjunction with the UofL College Democrats, College Republicans, and Pi Sigma Alpha as part of their Cards Decide 2010 week.

The new UofL Votes series of forums and debates continues Thursday, April 1, with the democratic candidates for U.S. Senate.

All five democratic candidates have confirmed that they will participate in the 7 p.m. forum in Bigelow Hall, Miller Information Technology Center. UofL and College Democrats are sponsors.

Mark Hebert, university spokesman, will moderate the forum, which will feature written questions from the audience, as well as questions from reporters Andy Alcock of WLKY-TV and Elizabeth Donatelli of WAVE-TV.

The event is open to faculty, staff, students and the general public.
