Masks, beads, feathers, king cake and a classic Disney movie all are on the menu for a UofL Mardi Gras party at the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium Sunday, Feb. 7.

The program is free and open to UofL faculty, staff and students and their families.

The Mardi Gras party will include two showings of the New Orleans-based Disney movie “The Princess and the Frog,” stations where children will be invited to make their own Mardi Gras masks and necklaces, as well as other activities. Kids and parents will also get to sample king cake.

The event will feature two sessions.

Sessions 1: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

1-2 p.m. Party in the planetarium lobby

2 p.m. Movie begins.

Note: Session A movie attendees are to exit to the back of the building facing Strickler Hall at the conclusion of the film.

Session 2: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Party in the planetarium lobby

4 p.m. Movie begins.

Space is limited. Reservations are required for all guests and should be made no later than Feb. 3 at http://2016uoflmardigras.eventbrite.com. Registrants will select which session to attend during registration.

The event is sponsored by Commonwealth Credit Union, the Office of Communications and Marketing and Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium.
