Trusses for the floor and roof of the new Student Recreation Center will arrive those days on Belknap Campus. Each piece is 110 feet long, 10 feet wide and requires special transportation plans to get to the construction site. UofL’s Office of Planning, Design and Construction expects traffic delays during the deliveries, especially on Fourth Street at the construction site.

Two trucks are expected to arrive each Monday and Thursday. The first will arrive in Louisville at about 10:30 a.m. It will travel south from Indiana on I-65 and then west on the Watterson Expressway. After the truck exits at South Third Street, a police motorcade will accompany it as it travels on Southern Parkway and Fourth Street into Belknap Campus.

The truck’s turn from Fourth Street into the construction site may cause a delay of several minutes.

The second truck will arrive after the lunch hour most likely following the same route and process.

Please allocate extra time to get to campus and be patient as traffic may be closed at intersections for several minutes while the trusses are transported.
