The UofL School of Music is hosting the 2014 Guitar Festival from May 22-26 at the School of Music. It will feature performances by several distinguished musicians and the opportunity for classical guitarists of all ages to compete.

The festival opens with The Astral Duo featuring flutist Kathleen Carr and guitarist Stephen Mattingly. Other performers during the five-day festival include guitarists Otto Tolonen, Kevin Manderville and Joseph Palmer, as well as another flute and guitar duo, Suzanne Bona and Richard Goering.

There will be solo artist and youth competitions for classical guitarists. The Youth Ensemble Showcase and Competition Award Ceremony will be the last day of the festival and feature the award-winners in concert.

The 2014 Guitar Festival is open to the public. Individual concerts are $20 general admission, $10 for seniors and students with a student ID. Ticket information and a full schedule of events are available at http://louisville.edu/music/guitarfest.
