    1.) Athletics offering discounted UofL-UK football tickets

    $50

    Help represent Card Nation in Lexington on Saturday, Nov. 28, as Louisville football takes on in-state rival Kentucky. Cardinal Athletics is offering $50 tickets to faculty and staff. Each employee can purchase up to four tickets. Tickets must be purchased in person at the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium ticket office by Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 5 p.m. The ticket office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    2.) Good news: Get Healthy Now 2016 Enrollment Opportunity extended

    GHN has extended the 2016 enrollment opportunity until Dec. 3. This two-week extension allows employees to enroll and earn the rewards of good health in 2016.     3.) Employee and dependent tuition remission: process change

    Attention employees: New changes to the tuition remission process have occurred. The policy and eligibility requirements have not changed. However, there is a new process to determine eligibility for both employee and dependent tuition remission. Please visit the Human Resource Education Benefits webpage for more information on these updates.

    This week’s food truck schedule for Belknap Campus (final food trucks until Spring!):

    5.) Eat for a good cause

    Support UofL’s student-funded Habitat for Humanity house! A portion of any purchase tonight (Thursday) from 5 to 9 p.m. at Señor Iguana’s (dine-in or take home) will be given to our student chapter. Señor Iguana’s is in the Kroger shopping center near Belknap Campus. No coupons necessary.

    7.) Applications for Lewis Scholarships and Fellowships now available

    The Richard and Constance Lewis Scholarships and Fellowships in Latin American and Iberian Studies are open to students and faculty who wish to study abroad or conduct research projects in Latin America, Spain or Portugal in 2016. The application deadline is Dec. 2.

    8.) Students perform opera scenes

    Free and open to the public

    Students from the School of Music will perform operas and arias, all selections from Mozart. The performances serve as training for the School of Music’s full opera “The Magic Flute” April 8 and 10 at the Bomhard Theater at the Kentucky Center for Performing Arts.

    9.) Green Tip: Friday’s sustainability triple-header

    Friday offers three chances to DIG into sustainability – from the intellectual to free lunch to actual digging! At noon in Ekstrom W210, join us for our monthly EcoReps Lunch & Learn on industrial sustainability, permaculture, and green study abroad. Also at noon, in Urban Studies 123, Covington’s first female mayor will speak on “The Equity Piece of Sustainable Communities.” Stick around until 2 p.m. for an Urban Studies Garden workday to help harvest sweet potatoes and plant garlic and pawpaw trees!

    This Friday, please join us for the 41st Annual Dr. John I. Perlstein Memorial Lectureship featuring Daniel West, MD. West is professor and vice-chair of education and the director of the residency training program in the department of pediatrics at the University of California in San Francisco. He will be presenting “The New Frontier in Medical Education: Patient-Centered and Competency-Based Medical Education.”

    Karen Krigger, MD, associate professor, UofL Family & Geriatric Medicine, will present, Are You Treating It the Same Old Way? STD Treatment Guideline Update 2015. Dr. Krigger will review the 2015 changes in the CDC recommended treatment guidelines for sexually transmitted diseases. CME category 1 is available for both AAFP & ACCME accreditation.
