    1.) American Spring: Lexington, Concord and the Road to Revolution

    May 22, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., 2nd Presbyterian Church, 3701 Old Brownsboro Rd.

    Free, but registration is required

    Walter R. Borneman will trace the development of the American Revolution from Paul Revere’s little known ride to New Hampshire in December, 1774, to George Washington taking command of colonial forces on July 3, 1775. The Filson Historical Society is a member of U of L’s Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships.

    3.) Register now for the Louisville Symposium on Heart Disease in Women

    Event June 28, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Rudd Heart & Lung Center

    Physicians $100; Allied health professionals/nurses $50; community $25

    Open to the public

    This one-day conference organized by Dr. Kendra Grubb is the first of what is planned to be an annual event. It is designed to provide physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and the community with up-to-date information on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease in women. Two dozen doctors are scheduled to speak.

    4.) Children 8 to 13 years needed for anxiety and worry study

    Life Sciences Building

    Are you stressed? Is your child stressed, anxious or worried? We can help! The UofL Developmental Psychopathology Lab is conducting a study examining the nature of worry and anxiety in parents and children. Parents and their children between the ages of 8 and 13 years are eligible to participate. Participants will receive free diagnostic interviews, detailed feedback and a report outlining the results of our assessment.

    Department of Medicine Grand Rounds features Kenneth R. McLeish, professor of medicine and chief of nephrology, VA Medical Center. Dr. McLeish will present Focal Segmental Glomerular Sclerosis: An Example of Progress in Understanding Glomerular Diseases, focusing on updating the pathogenesis of focal glomerulosclerosis and reviewing standard treatment options and new information on the role of podocytes in FSGS and their effects on diagnosis/treatment.
