    Begins May 13; Mondays & Wednesdays 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.; Health Promotion Office Activity Room (in the Student Services Annex)

    UofL Health Promotion Office offers Vinyasa Yoga to faculty and staff members. The summer session starts this week! Classes are every Monday and Wednesday from 5:15pm-6:15pm. To sign up and purchase class passes visit the Health Promotion website. We hope to see you on the mat!

    4.) SpringFest is Saturday; road closures begin Friday

    The 1200 and 1300 blocks of First Street will be closed at 9 a.m. Friday in preparation for SpringFest on Saturday. Also to be closed are the 100 blocks of East and West Ormbsy. There will be no parking in those areas. The streets will be reopened Saturday night.

    5.) Sign up for the Family and Friends Campus Visit Program

    Do you have a son or daughter who is a current high school student? The Office of Admissions would like to invite you both to our Family & Friends Campus Visit Program. This Campus Visit is specifically reserved for children of UofL Faculty and Staff. It will include an information session with Executive Director of Admissions and a walking tour with a current student. Space is limited & online reservation is required.

    6.) National Astronomy Day Celebration

    May 17, 1 to 4 p.m., Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium

    Join us for an afternoon of astronomy at the planetarium. In addition to a special $5/person admission to our public shows (members get in free), representatives from the Louisville Astronomical Society will be on hand with solar telescopes and other activities. Everyone gets to enter a drawing for great prizes that includes a Celestron AstroMaster 70AZ telescope (valued at $149.95), a family membership to the planetarium and much more!

    7.) Children 8 to 13 years needed for anxiety and worry study

    Are you stressed? Is your child stressed, anxious, or worried? We can help! The UofL Developmental Psychopathology Lab is conducting a study examining the nature of worry and anxiety in parents and children. Parents and their children between the ages of 8 and 13 years are eligible to participate. Participants will be compensated $20 for their time and receive free diagnostic interviews, detailed feedback and a report outlining the results of our assessment.

    8.) Infant Scientists Wanted

    The UofL Infant Cognition Lab (Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences) is conducting several studies on infant face perception. Infants who are between 3 and 8 months old with normal vision and hearing are invited to participate. Participation involves one brief visit to campus.     9.) Special lecture to commemorate Liberation of Auschwitz

    May 15, noon, Kentucky Lions Eye Center, 301 East Muhammad Ali Blvd.

    The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in the School of Medicine will host a special lecture to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz and Holocaust Remembrance Day on Friday at noon in the Kentucky Lions Eye Center, 301 East Muhammad Ali Blvd. Joern Soltau, MD, associate professor of ophthalmology, will give a presentation entitled, “From Genetics to Genocide.” This special lecture is open to the entire community and light refreshments will be served. Staff will be on site to escort all guests to the Conference Center and parking will be available in the lot behind the Kentucky Lions Eye Center.  Seating is limited so please contact Cynthia Brock at cynthia.brock@louisville.edu or 852-3716 to reserve your spot.

This week’s event will be presented by Enrico Rejc, PhD, assistant professor in the UofL department of neurosurgery. Dr. Rejc’s lecture is titled Effects of Lumbosacral Spinal Cord Epidural Stimulation for Standing After Chronic Complete Paralysis in Humans. 1 CME and 1.2 CEU credits are available to MDs, DOs, and RNs in attendance.
