1.) Cards Under the Stars Friday will feature ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
June 3, 6:30 p.m., on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall, movie begins at dusk; Free admission
Cards Under the Stars featuring “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” kicks off Friday, June 3. Grab a blanket, lawn chairs and a cooler and bring the family for a fun-filled night of activities and a screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Let the kids enjoy our inflatable park, play games and meet Star Wars characters. Bring a picnic or purchase concessions onsite at the available food trucks: Red Top Gourmet Hot Dogs and Sweet and Savory. Cards under the Stars returns June 24 with “Zootopia” and July 22 with “Inside Out.” Cards under the Stars is sponsored by Commonwealth Credit Union.

11.) Green Tip: Beat the construction blues
With all the construction around campus and Louisville, now is the perfect time to free yourself of traffic and parking headaches by leaving your car at home. Air quality alert days are also a stark reminder that with summer heat comes even greater need to reduce the pollution coming out of your tailpipe. This summer, try commuting on TARC (free with UofL ID), carpooling with neighbors, or biking/walking to campus at least part of the way. Applications for the Earn-A-Bike program are due Aug. 10.

12.) Participants needed for blood draw study
IRB # 15.0856; Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-9:30 a.m., Health Care Outpatient Center, Health Sciences Campus
UL’s School of Medicine and the American Heart Association Tobacco Research and Addiction Center (A-TRAC) are conducting a study that will use blood to study the effects of flavoring added to both tobacco products and e-cigarettes. We will do a one-time blood draw of less than 2 tablespoons. Recruiting healthy unmedicated young adults (18-45 years of age) who have never used tobacco. Participant compensation will be $30 Swift pre-paid card.
