3.) Still time to join the annual Heart Walk

As the summer is warming up, so is the UofL effort to support the American Heart Association’s annual Heart Walk. This year’s event is scheduled for Sept. 19 and UofL already has more team captains than ever before. This is the first step in achieving our goal of raising at least $50,000 this year in support of one of our community partners. If you have not signed up as a team captain or as a walker, an AHA representative will be on the Health Sciences Center campus July 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first floor of the Kornhauser Library. The representative will be on the Belknap campus at the Ekstrom Library July 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by and find out how to become involved in this event as UofL again demonstrates its support for our community.

“Mr. Jefferson and the Giant Moose: Natural History Early in America” involves Thomas Jefferson, Count and naturalist George-Louis Leclerc Buffon and a large, dead moose. Jefferson showed that the fledgling America republic was equal to well-established Europe. Natural history took on political overtones. Supported by Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.
