1.) Costco shopping event to benefit UofL pediatric lung disease program
5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Jan. 24, Costco Wholesale, Old Brownsboro Crossing, 5020 Norton Healthcare Blvd.
Costco has given free entry to non-members and members to shop in support of the UofL Department of Pediatrics lung disease program. Shoppers who donate $20 to UofL Pediatrics will receive a grab-bag of gifts worth at least $20, be entered in a drawing for several gift baskets and support children with cystic fibrosis, asthma and other respiratory diseases. 2.) Admissions to hold information session for faculty and staff parents

UofL’s priority deadline for first-time freshmen applicants is around the corner, Feb. 15. The Office of Admissions will host an information session for faculty and staff parents to help navigate the application process. The session will focus on students who have not applied or have applied but have not been admitted yet. No advance registration needed. 3.) Nucleus LaunchIt training program – spring 2014
The EVPRI is offering a limited-competitive opportunity to assist full-time faculty, staff or students with partial reimbursement for the registration fee for the spring 2014 LaunchIt training program. This program will assist entrepreneurs with startup and early stage companies. A pre-proposal is required. For deadlines and other details, go here.
4.) Increase in National Institutes of Health salary cap
The NIH funding opportunities and notices have been posted on the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration, Development Division, website. Please note NOT-OD-04-043 increases the Executive Level II Salary Cap which was effective Jan. 12.
5.) School of Medicine’s Summer Research Scholars Program (SRSP)

The SRSP provides a 10-week summer research experience to rising second-year medical students who are interested in research, the research environment of an academic medical center and the activities of academic physicians and scientists. A stipend is provided. To submit an application, visithere.

Are you a current caregiver of an adult with cancer? If so, you are invited to participate in a study seeking to better understand coping and well-being in caregivers. As a participant, you will be asked to complete an online survey and provide saliva samples at the College of Education and Human Development on the Belknap Campus.
