    UofL’s Archives & Special Collections (ASC) library is located in Ekstrom Library. It is made up of the University Archives & Records Center, Rare Books and Photographic Archives. ASC holds the original charter of Louisville signed by Thomas Jefferson in May 1780. You can see it here.

    1.) Faculty: 2016 Kentucky Pedagogicon Call for Proposals

    Proposal deadline is February 1, 2016

    The 2016 Kentucky Pedagogicon will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016, in Eastern Kentucky University’s Noel Studio for Academic Creativity. The conference theme, “Exploring High-Impact Educational Practices Using Scholarly and Creative Teaching,” encourages us, as individuals and as a field, to examine and highlight those strategies of high-impact educational practices that promote scholarly and creative teaching in highly effective instruction.

    Free for GHN Wellness Center members

    This class focuses on core fitness that can easily translate into daily activities and incorporates all of the major muscle groups as well as the muscles you never knew you had. You will get efficient, quality, functional movements that will enhance and nourish your spine, revitalize your postural muscles, and strengthen your core with every movement. Exercises are shown at different skill levels so each person can work to their own individual competency.

    Kickstart your holiday season with Cardio Kick & Sculpt class! Have fun while burning calories before the holiday feasts this year. Join GHN for an action-packed workout that will improve strength, muscle tone, endurance, and will help you stick to your fitness goals. Class includes interval training exercises that will have you shredding calories! All moves are modified based on fitness level.

    6.) UofL Today publishing schedule for the holidays

    The UofL Today email is published Monday through Friday. The final UofL Today for 2015 will be Dec. 22. UofL Today will not be sent out Dec. 23 to Jan. 1. The first email of 2016 will be Jan. 4. The deadline for Jan. 4 announcements is 10 a.m., Dec. 22. Contact Janet Cappiello with questions.

     

    7.) Policy Highlight: Vendor Gifts

    As we are in the holiday season, please be aware that the university has policies regarding the acceptance of gifts from vendors. Section 9.1.1 of UofL’s “Addressing Potential Individual Conflict of Interest Policy and Procedures” provides guidance regarding the acceptance of gifts. If you have questions, please contact the Conflict of Interest Program at coioff@louisville.edu.     8.) Last call to help animals

    Deadline: Dec. 18; Belknap Houchens Lower Level: HSC- Dental School

    This is the last weekend to shop for homeless animals. Thousands of animals are dumped in shelters each year and without our help most of them will die before they get a chance to have a home. No donation is too small. Help those that can’t help themselves. We are their voice and they need us now. List of items needed available.
