    2.) Cards All In Kickoff Week

    Cards All In will kick off the 2015-2016 campaign next week. We have teamed with the University Club and will be onsite promoting Cards All In while you enjoy non-membership dining.     3.) LGBT Safe Zone 1 training in September

    Sept. 9, 1 to 2:30 p.m., Human Resources 103A

    Have you ever wanted to know more about the LGBT community? Join us for our Safe Zone 1 Ally training offered by the LGBT Center! During this 90-minute training, you will get the opportunity to hear from a panel of LGBT students, learn about issues that impact LGBT people in our community and self-reflect on what actions you can take to help improve the lives of LGBT people. Each participant will receive a training packet with resources, and a Safe Zone Ally sticker to post in your work space.

    4.) Women Veterans Brown Bag Lunch & Learn Workshop Series

    The Women Veterans Brown Bag Lunch & Learn Series continues with a discussion on women veterans in business or starting a business. The Small Business Administration (SBA), the Women’s Business Center and UofL Women’s Center will be on hand to distribute information. The sessions are in the interest of women veterans, active duty, National Guard, reservists, military families and widows. Sponsored in part by the UofL Women’s Center.

    5.) ExCITE grant informationals next week

    Do you have an idea for a product that could improve patient care or enhance human health? If so, UofL has a new grant program to develop health-related, UofL technologies. The new UofL ExCITE hub offers proof-of-concept grant funding for a maximum of $200,000 per project. The pre-proposal deadline is August 31. For more details, the ExCITE Team will be holding two informational sessions next week—one each on the Belknap and HSC campuses. Refreshments will be served; please RSVP.

    6.) Planetarium holding ‘It’s Your Planet-Love It!’ Girl Scouts workshops

    The planetarium offers workshops designed to support the “It’s Your Planet – Love It” Journey series. In September, we have “Between Earth and Sky” for Daisies (9/5) and “WOW! Wonders of Water” for Brownies (9/19). Don’t worry if you have a Junior or Cadette; they will have their turn in October. And, best of all, UofL affiliates get a special rate of $12/scout and $3/adult (normally $15/$5). Space is limited so sign up now! More information at planetarium.louisville.edu.

    7.) Planetarium holding Cosmic Explorer Workshop

     Stories in the Sky: September 6, 2 to 4 p.m., Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium

    Ever look up at the sky and wonder about how far away the stars actually are? Or maybe you wondered if what you were seeing was a planet or part of a constellation? The Stories in the Sky workshop is a beginner’s tour of the night sky, and is designed for children 4-6 years of age to attend with their parent/guardian.     8.) Green Tip: Catering with Concern

    In charge of providing food for a meeting or campus event? Consider the effects of your choices on people’s health, the environment and our local economy. Some things you can do: Serve less meat to minimize environmental impact and offer healthier options. Request as much local, fresh, seasonal food as possible – there are area caterers that specialize in this. Go zero waste by avoidingt excessively packaged and individually wrapped foods. Provide a pitcher of tap water instead of bottled water.
