LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Book and music lovers will be able to add to their collections during the University of Louisville libraries’ annual book sale Sunday, Sept. 29, and Monday, Sept. 30.
Several first editions and a rare children’s book from the 1920s written in German are among the feature items. First editions include:
- Joseph Heller’s “Catch-22”;
- a first edition by beat generation author Jack Kerouac;
- a signed first edition by Bernard Malamud, author of “The Natural”;
- “The Lasko Tangent,” the first novel by attorney-turned-novelist Richard North Patterson
Also on the table will be more than 5,000 LPs, as well as CDs, VHS tapes and book-related memorabilia, said Michael Johmann, one of the event coordinators.
The sale will take place in the lower level of the Speed Art Museum parking garage, accessible from Third Street. Doors open Sunday at 5 p.m. Admission for this night, which features a silent auction, is $10.
The sale closes at 9 p.m. Sunday but resumes Monday, Sept. 30, at 9 a.m. It will continue until 6 p.m. There is no admission for Monday. Buyers will be able to purchase a bag of books for $10 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. that day.Proceeds will help the libraries purchase books and other resources.
