UofL School of Music sponsors “A Jazzy Holiday” concert and dinner

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville School of Music is ushering in the holidays with a big band, jazz concert and dinner.

    The School of Music is sponsoring “A Jazzy Holiday” show Dec. 4 at Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville, Ind.

     The holiday concert will showcase seasonal big band music by an ensemble of UofL jazz faculty and students directed by professor Jerry Tolson. The UofL Trombone Ensemble is also playing along with faculty vocalists Chad Sloan, Emily Albrink Katz and Katherine Donner and local jazz vocalist Karan Chavis.

    Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 5:45 p.m. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for dinner and the show are $40.

    Niki King Jones is positive she has the best job at the University of Louisville, serving the communication needs of the departments of fine arts and theatre, the School of Music, University Libraries and Alumni – all the fun, creative stuff. Before coming to UofL in 2015, Niki held communication positions in both private and nonprofit sectors in Louisville, Ky., including at Heaven Hill Distilleries and the Jewish Community of Louisville. For 10 years prior, she was a reporter at various newspapers across the country, most recently The Courier-Journal. Niki graduated from the University of Memphis with a BA in journalism and has a masters degree in community and leadership development from the University of Kentucky.
