LOUISVILLE, Ky. –The University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics has added an east Louisville location to its general pediatrics operation, partnering with Sheila Guelda, M.D., founder of Springhurst Kids’ Doc on North Hurstbourne Lane.

Dr. Guelda has joined the pediatric faculty of the UofL School of Medicine, a team of nearly 200 pediatric experts who care for children in clinics, in emergency rooms and on the hospital units of Kosair Children’s Hospital. The practice is now one of the university’s four general pediatrics locations in the Louisville area.

“We think this partnership will be mutually beneficial to the university and to Dr. Guelda and her patients,” said Gilbert Liu, M.D., UofL Pediatrics division chief. “This agreement improves patient access to UofL pediatric specialists’ expertise and creates learning opportunities for our trainees. Dr. Guelda benefits from the university’s latest innovations in medical care, teaching and research.”

UofL Pediatrics has added staff, upgraded the practice’s technology, set up an Electronic Medical Record and created patient-focused web pages for the practice.

The UofL Pediatrics Springhurst Kids office will be open Monday–Friday, 9-5, and on Saturdays by appointment only. The phone number has changed: 502-588-0490.

Guelda graduated from the UofL School of Medicine in 1980 and completed a pediatric residency at the University of Louisville in 1983.

UofL Pediatrics’ other offices are located downtown at the Health Sciences Center campus, in Germantown at Kosair Charities and on Stonestreet Road at Jewish Hospital Medical Center Southwest.
