UofL homecoming block party will be held downtown

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville Alumni Association will host a free, public block party in downtown Louisville Saturday, Oct. 22, to kick off 2011 Homecoming festivities.

    Homecoming on Main begins at 3 p.m. at the Norton Healthcare Plaza, KFC Yum! Center, between Second and Third streets. Festivities include live music, inflatables, face painting, a rock-climbing wall, vendor booths, games, a scavenger hunt and a beer garden. There also will be a 5 p.m. pep rally attended by athletic team representatives, the pep band and spirit squads.

    The traditional Red and White Men’s Basketball Scrimmage will begin at 7 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. Tickets for the game are $10 or $5 for students with their UofL identification.

    UofL event organizers worked with downtown businesses to offer Homecoming on Main party-goers special deals and discounts.

    The UofL Homecoming football game is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, with the Cards facing off against Syracuse. The kickoff time for the game has not been announced.
