U OF L TO HOLD COMMUNITY SERVICE CONFERENCE

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville is sponsoring a conference to promote community service opportunities for teachers June 20 at the Founders Union Building on Shelby Campus.

    The conference, titled “Community Partnerships through Service Learning and Volunteerism,” will be from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. It will cover faculty involvement in student service learning, volunteerism and community partnerships, recruitment and retention of volunteers and reflection and follow-up with volunteers and students.

    Registration for the full day is $100 and includes all sessions. Half-day registration is $50.

    John Drees is a 35-year veteran in the Office of Communications and Marketing. As vice president, communications and marketing, he works closely with the president, provost and other senior administrators, oversees the Office of Communications and Marketing, including media relations, marketing and brand, broadcast, social media, internal communication, crisis communication, visitor services and special events and activities. A former sports editor for the Voice Newspapers, he was a regular contributor to a variety of publications, including the Kentucky Sports Report and the Courier-Journal.
