LOUISVILLE, Ky. – C. Maurice Snook has been named the new associate vice president for health affairs finance and administration for the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center. Snook comes from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was the associate dean for finance and administration for the School of Medicine.

David L. Dunn, M.D., Ph.D., UofL executive vice president for health affairs, highlighted Snook’s extensive financial experience within academic medicine.

“I am very pleased to welcome Maurice to the UofL Health Sciences Center,” Dunn said. “He has tremendous experience at one of the leading academic medical centers in the nation. While at MUSC, he helped the institution successfully weather significant decreases in state funding, while enhancing the school’s financial standing. His expertise in aligning finances to sustain and enhance the academic mission will prove invaluable here at the UofL.”

Snook spent more than 30 years at MUSC. During his tenure he had a lead role in the design and implementation of a campus-wide financial system. He assisted with the implementation of a culture-changing initiative that resulted in major gains in student faculty, employee and patient satisfaction and improving the school’s academic and financial performance, despite a 52 percent reduction in state funding.

Prior to joining MUSC, Snook worked at Raybestos-Manhattan in Charleston, S.C., Bailey, Self & Harris, CPAs in Durham, N.C., and John C. Muse & Co., CPAs, in Sanford, N.C.

Snook earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and his master’s in business administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
