National news media coming to Louisville for The Julep

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Each year, representatives of the news media fill the rope line on the red carpet entrance at The Julep to interview and photograph celebrities arriving at Louisville’s stellar Derby Eve event.

In 2012, some of those media folks on the rope line will be as well known nationally as the celebs they are covering. With 10 days to go, The Julep has drawn the attention of national news media who have applied for media credentials to cover the event.

Among the first to sign on was Pia Catton, senior arts and leisure reporter with The Wall Street Journal. Attending from the entertainment web portal RadarOnline will be reporter Debbie Emery. The Wild River Review’s Wild Table Food and Drink Editor and Cocktail Whisperer blogger Warren Bobrow also is scheduled to attend. The Fox family will send its own version of the daily double – reporter Lauren Simonetti of Fox Business News will be on the rope line with her husband, Fox News producer Mark Cubrilo.

Regional media will be on hand for the premier party with a purpose as well. The Jericho Broadcasting Network of Orlando, Fla., Milwaukee Radio Group, the Atlanta-based Eurweb.com, Pittsburgh’s StyleSegment.com and Hampton, N.C.-based American International News Service are among those lining the red carpet. Three Nashville media operations – the Tennessee Tribune newspaper, Sonya’s Spotlight magazine and Sports Video Group – also will be on hand.

Of course, the Kentucky press always know where the top celebs will be on Derby Eve, and The Julep will see representatives from the Louisville Courier-Journal, WAVE3-TV, WDRB-TV, WHAS and WMAZ radio, Today’s Woman magazine, Bluegrass Horseman magazine, Valeo magazine, NVY TV and a number of the area’s top photographers.

To see – and be seen by – the press at The Julep, go to www.thejulep.org for information and tickets. The Julep is presented by Brown-Forman on Friday, May 4, at The Galt House, 140 N. Fourth St. in Louisville.
