LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville public relations executive Jessica Loving has been named chairman of the University of Louisville’s Board of Trustees.

Loving is president and chief executive officer of Creative Alliance Public Relations Inc., a sister company of Creative Alliance, Kentucky’s largest advertising agency. She earned a bachelor’s degree in humanities from U of L in 1968 and is a graduate of Madisonville (Ky.) High School.

Loving was first appointed as a U of L trustee in 1996 and was reappointed by Kentucky Gov. Paul Patton to a six-year term in 1997. She has served on the board’s executive committee for five years, first as secretary, and later as treasurer and vice-chair.

She succeeds former trustees chair Bill Samuels, whose appointment to the board expired on June 30.

Others serving as board officers for the coming year are Junior Bridgeman, vice chair; Nat Green, secretary; J. Chester Porter, treasurer; and Joyce Schifano, trustee at large.

In addition, two new trustees, Louisvillians Owsley Frazier and Annette Schnatter, have been appointed to the board, replacing Samuels and Ann Ford Cobb.

The U of L Board of Trustees is the final governing authority for the university, working closely with the university president to establish policy for the institution. All board members are appointed by Kentucky’s governor.
