LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville’s urban and public affairs department is offering a lineup of speakers with expertise in local, state and national government as well as housing and community development.
The Urban and Public Affairs Speaker Series’ free, public talks begin at noon in Room 123, Urban Studies Institute, 426 W. Bloom St. The spring events are:
March 9 — “From West Louisville to the West Wing of the White House,” Jerry Abramson, Bellarmine University executive in residence and former Louisville mayor, Kentucky lieutenant governor and intergovernmental affairs director for President Barack Obama.
March 23 — “Louisville Forward: Creating a Progressive Vision,” Mary Ellen Wiederwohl, Louisville Forward chief for Louisville metro government.
March 24 – “How Entrepreneurs Regenerate Neighborhoods,” Lyle Sussman, UofL management professor and author, and Tom O’Shea, restaurateur.
March 30 – “Section 8 Is Not a Monster: Norton Commons Will Continue to Prosper,” Paul Dries, UofL urban and public affairs doctoral alumnus.
April 6 – “Missed Opportunities: How Lost and Unbuilt Projects Could Make Louisville Great Again,” Steve Wiser, architect, historian and author.
April 27 – “Leadership Is An Art and Science,” Cynthia Knapek, Leadership Louisville Center president.
