LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Historian Lien-Hang Nguyen, who recently published a book on the Vietnam War, will discuss her research and answer questions during a free, public talk Sept. 27 at the University of Louisville.
An associate professor of history at the University of Kentucky, Nguyen used never-seen archival materials from the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other archives around the world in writing “Hanoi’s War: An International History of the War for Peace in Vietnam.”
Her book examines the international context of the war and looks at the politics of warfare and peacemaking from the perspectives of North Vietnam, South Vietnam, the Soviet Union, China and the United States.
Nguyen will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the University Club on Belknap Campus and sign copies of her book.
Event sponsors include UofL’s Asian studies program and its Friends of Asian Studies group, the Kentuckiana Asian Studies Network and representatives of the local Vietnamese community.
