LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Walk, run, push or volunteer for fitness, peace and community April 13 in the second Ali Shuffle. The Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of Louisville is reaching out to people across the city with the unifying theme “Connecting Communities One Step at a Time.”

Event participants will cover 10K from West Louisville to the Ali Center downtown. Along the way they’ll celebrate the neighborhoods they pass through and the life of Muhammad Ali, said Stacy Bailey-Ndiaye, Ali Institute director.

People can register to walk, run or push starting Feb. 4 at active.com. Rates are $20 for the general public and $15 for students and include a T-shirt. active.com charges a $3.25 convenience fee. People also can register by mail by downloading a registration form from the Ali Institute.

Anyone who wants to volunteer to help with the event can email the Ali Center. Participation counts toward the Mayor’s Give-A-Day week of service.

The Ali Shuffle funds international travel for the institute’s Muhammad Ali Scholars Program. Ali made his professional mark in boxing and, through the institute’s program and other means, is leaving a personal legacy of peace building. Ali Scholars learn peace-building techniques to apply at home and around the world.
