Advisory: Living up to the spirit of their name Gift brothers donate hams Dec. 20 to patients at UofL James Graham Brown Cancer Center

    1

WHO: Alex Gift and Tommy Gift of Louisville, sons of the late Mary Jane Gift

WHAT: Ham donation to patients at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center

Brothers Alex and Tommy Gift will bring some holiday cheer to patients undergoing treatment for cancer as they again donate hams through the fund they established to honor their late mother.

The Mary Jane Gift Quality of Life Fund at the cancer center provides patients with resources that are above and beyond the treatment they receive. In addition to holiday hams, the brothers and the fund have provided turkeys to patients each Thanksgiving for the past five years. The Gifts lost their mother to a 24-year battle with breast cancer in 2010

With Brown Cancer Center Director Jason Chesney, M.D., Ph.D., and other cancer center staff, the Gift brothers expect to distribute approximately 150-200 hams. The donation and the fund are supported in part by the annual Spike it to Cancer Volleyball Tournament.

WHEN: Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon; best time to obtain interviews with the Gift brothers will be 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: UofL James Graham Brown Cancer Center, 529 S. Jackson St.
