We may be traditionally be a basketball school, but our spirit squads are making sure that’s not all UofL is known for.

Last week, the Cardinals added three more national titles to the trophy case during the 2019 NCA and NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The UofL All-Girl Cheerleaders won a sixth straight – and 16th overall – title by beating South Carolina.

Also, UofL cheerleaders Krista Fierro, Alex Birch, Emily Mattey and Kiana Davee won the Four Girl Group Stunt division – the second straight national title for the Cards in this category.

The Ladybirds also won their 18th consecutive and 20th overall national title in the Division IA Team Performance and were second in the Hip Hop Division IA division.

The Cards also brought home some silver. UofL’s Small Co-Ed Cheerleaders finished second to Oklahoma State and the Large Co-Ed Cheerleaders were inched out by 0.8 of a point to Texas Tech, according to 247sports.com

UofL’s cheer instructors are Misty Hodges and James Speed, while the Ladybirds are under the direction of Sheryl Knight.
