The University of Louisville will celebrate the success of TRIO, a program that helps disadvantaged students qualify for and succeed in college, Saturday, Feb. 27, in Strickler Hall on the Belknap Campus.

TRIO Support Services Programs is a federal program that provides assistance to low-income, first-generation college students and/or students with disabilities to help them earn a bachelor’s degree. The program’s mission is to increase retention and graduation rates by offering academic, financial and personal support. Many students start the program in middle school.

Sixty TRIO Programs throughout Kentucky will celebrate TRIO Day.

UofL’s celebration will include TRIO students participating in different session topics including: TRIO Alumni Panel, Social Media Etiquette, UofL Showcase and Study Abroad. The university will offer campus tours to students. The day will conclude with an awards ceremony.

The program will begin with sign-in from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.; prior registration was required for students and staff.
