The Jamey Aebersold Jazz Studies Program at the UofL School of Music presents the annual celebration of America’s indigenous musical art form.

Visiting artists include:

  • Amina Figarova Sextet: Composer and pianist Figarova, a native of Azerbaijan, and her group have won acclaim throughout the world and have played at the Newport and New Orleans Jazz Festivals and other venues. The sextet will perform with the UofL Faculty Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m., Feb. 22, in Comstock Concert Hall.
  • Dick Oatts, saxophone, and Joe Magnarelli, trumpet: Oatts and Magnarelli are noted masters of their instruments and have played with prestigious jazz orchestras and vocalists. They will perform at 8 p.m., Feb. 23, in Comstock Concert Hall.
  • Zach Brock/Aaron Goldberg Duo Project: Lexington-native and violinist Brock collaborates with composer and pianist Goldberg to create a unique presentation of jazz music. They will play at 3 p.m., Feb. 24, in Bird Recital Hall.

The Jazz Fest began in 1993 and includes public concerts as well as lectures and workshops for area high school and college students. Visiting student groups will perform throughout the day Feb. 22 and Feb. 23.

General admission for each performance is $15; student admission is $5.
