The newspaper presented the award at its 2013 Commercial Real Estate Awards banquet March 26 and featured the project in the “Project: Green” section of its March 29 issue.

In June, the college opened a new $3 million, 8,000-square-foot wing to house its Equine Industry Program and Forcht Center for Entrepreneurship. A green roof and sky garden atop the two-story addition was designed to trim its heating and cooling costs by one-fourth and drain rainwater to the ground below to help prevent campus flooding.

The addition recently received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for new construction.
