Jared Anderson – Humans of UofL

Compared to most my journey coming to the University of Louisville is rather simple and short.  I was born and raised in the city and graduated from Male High School just down the road. img_4590jared-anderson_msBoth of my parents graduated from U of L.  My mother used to work for the university while my aunt currently does.  Through friends I had a few other connections here as well.  Being a musician, I had a few connections in the music school and my private lessons instructor at the time is also a U of L alumnus.  An advantage of going to a school so close to home granted me the opportunity to continue attending my home church and being heavily involved with it.  During the spring and summer I umpire little league baseball.  With school being ten minutes away I was still able to umpire in the evenings and make money.  img_4606_jared-anderson_treesThe city also grants numerous opportunities to remain active, such as Kentucky Kingdom, the Louisville Zoo, the many parks, the Waterfront area, and the Highlands.  U of L was my top choice.  U of L has made a huge positive impact on my life.  Fun Fact: I was UK fan at the start of freshman year.  By the end of the school year I was a true Cardinal.  My involvement in groups and activities such as intramural sports, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity, the band programs, Cardinal Ambassador, and the Louligans has helped my love for the university grow.  I’ve been to three bowl game with the marching img_4609_jared-anderson_nicband, traveled all around the country with the pep band, and been to both San Jose, California and Interlaken, Switzerland with the wind ensemble.  With the Louligans I have become a big fan of soccer and now go to all the men and women’s games to cheer them on.  In my later years I became a sports writer for Big Red Louie, a part of FanSided, before I became editor-in-chief of River City Cards.  Being a Cardinal Ambassador allows me to interact with many prospective students and their families.  I enjoy welcoming them to the university and telling them all about why I LOVE being a Louisville Cardinal.  A majority of my time now is spent with friends I have made at U of L.   My time as a student has nearly concluded, but my time being a Louisville Cardinal will last forever!
