    1.) Changes mark a new day for UofL Today

    A new and improved UofL Today daily email will appear in your inbox starting Monday, Oct. 3. Changes have been made to present an updated, visually appealing message while continuing to deliver important, campus-wide news, announcements and events. The new UofL Today email will be delivered Monday through Thursday. It will be replaced on Fridays with a UofL News digest, which will include a roundup of the week’s top stories from UofLNews.com.     4.) UofL Industrial Hemp & Renewable Energy Research meeting set

    October 3, 1-2:30 p.m., Room 212, Ernst Hall, Belknap Campus

    UofL hosts the next monthly meeting of the city-wide Louisville Sustainability Council’s Green Economy Action Team, and all are welcome. The meeting will feature UofL’s Andrew Marsh discussing his research into industrial hemp as a sustainable feedstock alternative to petrochemical inputs for all types of products. We’ll tour UofL’s hemp trial plot & the student-designed, solar-powered Phoenix House, which was recently rededicated as offices for UofL’s Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research.

    10.) Safe Zone LGBT Ally training scheduled

    October 12, 10 a.m. to noon, HR

    Join The LGBT Center for our Safe Zone 1 Ally training. During this session, participants will hear from a panel of LGBT students, learn about current issues that impact LGBT people in our community, and think about actions you can take to help improve the lives of LGBT people. Each participant will receive a training packet and an official Safe Zone Ally sticker.

    11.) UofL’s staff photographer Tom Fougerousse to exhibit 25 years of photos

    October 6, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Photographic Archives Gallery, Ekstrom Library lower level

    Visit Photographic Archives for an exhibit of more than 40 photos that UofL’s staff photographer Tom Fougerousse has taken throughout the last 25 years. The show opens Oct. 6 and a reception will be held the evening of Oct. 11. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    12.) Green Tip: Make plans for UofL Sustainability Week, Oct. 17-23

    Sustainability Week is the perfect opportunity to get engaged in social and planetary justice. Any related events (lectures, films, tours, service projects, etc.) can be added to the calendar and all are welcome to host a booth at Campus Sustainability Day on the Quad on Oct. 19. Faculty are encouraged to integrate themes of environmental, social and economic stewardship into courses, service learning and research.     This Friday, please join us for the 11th Annual Dr. Sally Perlman Memorial Lectureship featuring Mark Laufer, MD. Laufer is chief of gynecology at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Center for Infertility and Reproductive Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is also professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He will present, “Adolescent Endometriosis.”
