    1.) Clothing Exchange Project for Children underway

    September 12, 8 a.m.

    The Women’s Center Student Parent Association Clothing Exchange Project for Children is accepting donations of new or gently used infant and children clothing and other items for the children of student-parents plus toiletries for student-parents. For a list of drop-off locations and times check online. The drive continues through Oct. 14.

    2.) UofL Women Center hosts collection drive for the Kristy Love Foundation

    Begins September 12

    The UofL Women’s Center is collecting clothes and toiletries for the Kristy Love Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women addicted to drugs and alcohol. For a list of items needed and drop-off locations and times, email Phyllis Webb.

    3.) Register to participate in the UofL Homecoming Parade

    October 21, 6 p.m., Corner of S 4th St & W Cardinal Blvd.; Free

    You’re invited to be a part of the 2016 UofL Homecoming Parade. Registration is now open for departments, student and alumni groups, community organizations, and businesses to participate in this event hosted by the Alumni Association. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, October 17.

    4.) Free flu shots start today the Health Science Campus

    Sept. 12, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Abell Administration Building, Room 110, HSC

    The first flu shot clinic will be on Monday, Sept. 12. Students, faculty, and staff can get free flu shots through Campus Health Services ($5 for retirees). A full schedule and a consent form are available online. Download, print and complete the consent form for the fastest service. You must have your UofL ID with you to get a free flu shot.

     

    5.) Selecting a Drug Insurance program available for retirees, soon-to-be retirees

    September 23, 10-11:30 a.m., Humana Gym, 801 President’s Blvd.; Free

    The UofL Association of Retired Personnel (ULARP) is offering this program for all retired and soon to be retired UofL staff and faculty. The purpose is to review issues one may need to consider when enrolling in a drug insurance plan.

    6.) A&S Dean’s Office Bake Sale to benefit American Heart Association

    September 12, 8:30 a.m. to noon, north side of Gardiner Hall, facing Humanities Quad

    The A&S Dean’s Office is hosting a Bake Sale to benefit the American Heart Association. Stop by and get breakfast or a delicious snack for later. Everything is 50 cents and the sale includes coffee, water, brownies, cookies, muffins, bananas, apples, grapes and more.

    The Office of the EVPRI is accepting applications for the Internal Grants Program. The Internal Grants Program (Research I, Research II and URG) aims to assist faculty in new highly productive research projects. All grant categories are open to full-time faculty.     12.) Workshop set for GTAs on ways to provide access for students with disabilities

    September 13, 2-3 p.m., Room 105, Houchens Building, Belknap Campus

    The PLAN program seeks to inform graduate teaching assistants about the resources available through the Disability Resource Center and the Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning. We will discuss how students get connected with the Disability Resource Center, examples of services provided, and how graduate teaching assistants can contribute to providing access for students with disabilities through Delphi.     13.) Training scheduled for commercializing life science innovations

    Tuesdays from September 20 through October 18, from 3-5 p.m., Room 124, Clinical Translational Research Building, HSC campus; Free

    All are invited to attend the fall edition of UofL’s Trifecta Translational Training Program for Life Science Technologies. Each session focuses on a different aspect of commercializing research innovations. The first session of our five-part series features life science entrepreneurs Stephen Snowdy and Angus McLachlan discussing the importance of a compelling product story.

    Time and place that works for you; Free for employees, spouses and QAs

    Take advantage of the chance to partner with a Get Healthy Now wellness coach intern who will help you work toward any health behavior change. You will meet with the coach one hour a week for eight weeks. Our interns have successfully completed a semester of intensive coach training and are closely supervised by a certified coach.
