5.) Get Healthy Now Wellness Center closed for Thanksgiving Holiday
The GHN Wellness Center will close Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m., and will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday Nov. 27 in observance of Thanksgiving. Normal hours of operation will resume Saturday, Nov. 28 (9am – 5p). Happy Thanksgiving!

7.) Internal RFP for innovative proposals is announced
The School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies (SIGS) and the Office of Research and Innovation announce an internal RFP for innovative proposals to drive UofL’s Academic and Research Excellence for the 21st Century. The grant is for interdisciplinary groups and will provide up to $250,000 for three years. 8.) Free Information Security training session

9.) Surplus Warehouse to reopen Wednesday
The Surplus Warehouse at 1901 S. Floyd St. on Belknap Campus will reopen Wednesday, November 25. Warehouse hours are 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Department representatives may select items for department use only. There is no charge if the department representatives remove the item(s) from Surplus. Departments may request for a fee that Physical Plant deliver the reserved items by completing the Chargeable Service Request online form.

The IESL program is offering an evening class Spring 2016 semester on Mondays from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m., beginning January 11. The class is designed to help non-native speakers of English (high-intermediate to advanced proficiency) become more effective communicators in academic, professional and social situations. Class instruction focuses on conversational fluency and the acquisition of linguistic strategies needed in professional interactions such as discussions and presentations.

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital is conducting a research study to evaluate the effect of an investigational product on childhood obesity. White and African American male and female subjects 10 to less than 14 years old who are overweight, obese or normal weight may be eligible. If a child qualifies to participate, he or she will receive the product or placebo and study related care at no cost. Compensation will be provided for time/travel.

19.) Type 1 diabetes mellitus study for adolescents and adults aged 6 to 35 years

The Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit and the Wendy L. Novak Diabetes Care Center are conducting a clinical research study to evaluate the safety of an experimental medication in 6 to 35 years old who have recently been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. If the subject qualifies to take part in this research study, participation lasts up to 2 years; he/she will receive the study medication or a placebo and study-related care at no cost. 20.) Pediatric constipation study

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit is conducting a clinical research study to assess the efficacy and safety of an investigational drug used to treat constipation. Children 6-17 years of age who have been diagnosed with functional constipation and are able to swallow capsules may be eligible to participate. Patients may be compensated for time/travel associated with their participation in the study.
