    1.) Campus Conversation is today; livestream available

    Nov. 20, 10 a.m., Strickler Hall, Middleton Auditorium

    President James Ramsey, several key faculty and members of administration will initiate a campus conversation on inclusiveness, diversity, and UofL’s future.  Joining President Ramsey will be Vice Provost for Diversity and International Affairs Mordean Taylor-Archer; Pan-African Studies Professor and Chairman Ricky Jones; Enid Trucios-Haynes, Professor of Law and Interim Director of the Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice; Victoria Allen, SGA President; representatives from the Hispanic/Latino Faculty and Staff Association; and student leadership groups.  Refreshments to follow.     4.) Angel Tree for Animals

    Through Dec 18, Belknap-lower level Houchens; HSC-Dental School

    It’s that time of year. The time we think of those less fortunate. How about shopping for something different this year? Wouldn’t if feel great to know you helped save a homeless animal? Shelters AND rescues always need our help. This year we will donate items to Louisville Metro Animal Services and Kentucky Animal Relief Fund. Both have taken on several neglect/hoarding cases in the past few months and are in extreme need. So pick up a list of needs and shop for the animals!

    5.) Deadline Dec. 1 for Graduate Student Entrepreneurship Academy

    The Graduate Student Entrepreneurship Academy is a semester-long series of sessions designed to teach entrepreneurial thinking and skills. Sessions will cover an introduction to entrepreneurial thinking, how to be entrepreneurial, the business model canvas and lean launch pad, and social entrepreneurship. Applications are available here and the deadline is Dec. 1.

    6.) Chemical Engineering Fall Seminar Series

    Vaccine against Papillomaviruses by Shin-je Ghim and Albert Ben Jenson Vaccinology Laboratory, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, University of Louisville. Drs. Ghim and Jenson have been working on papilloma viruses for decades and they are the two important scientists that co-invented the cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil. They will review various aspects of papilloma viruses and the process of developing vaccines against the diseases caused by these viruses.

    9.) Colloquium with mathematics professor

    University of Louisville Professor Gung Ming-Gie will present a talk entitled Motions of Fluids in the Presence of a Boundary. In fluid mechanics, it is the interaction of the fluid with the boundary that is most critical to understand the behavior of fluids inside a bounded region. Professor Gie will discuss some recent approaches of analysis and computations in this research direction.
