1.) Cards Under the Stars Movie Series: Monsters University
May 30, 6:30 p.m., beside the Natural Sciences Building, Belknap campus
Free
UofL’s free family movie night series returns for 2014! The first outdoor movie of the summer will be Monsters University. The event begins with entertainment and the film begins at dusk. Activities include children’s inflatables and games, as well as music by Sonablast recording artist Heidi Howe. Concessions will be available for purchase from Holy Mole Taco Truck. Patrons are welcome to bring picnic baskets, coolers, lawn chairs and blankets.

2.) NCAA Send-off for Lacrosse

All are invited to the UofL Lacrosse NCAA Send-off! In just the seventh season of the program, UofL Lacrosse gained the Big East regular season and tournament championships and earned the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. We’d love to have you join the pep band with a smile and a wave as the team pulls away! Thank you for all you do to make being a Cardinal so special!

3.) HSC Gray Street Farmers Market opens May 15
Thursdays from May 15 to Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 400 E. Gray St.
Join us for opening day of the Gray Street Farmers Market (GSFM) on May 15. The GSFM will be open on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 30. Our 10 market vendors offer the finest in local farm products, including fruits, vegetables, breads, lunch items and more. Debit cards and SNAP benefits are accepted. The Gray Street Farmers Market is located on the 400 block of East Gray Street, between South Jackson and South Preston streets.

4.) Belknap campus also getting farmers market; grand opening June 5
Thursdays beginning June 5; soft opening May 29, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., 3rd Street and Brandeis Ave.
UofL’s Belknap campus is also getting a farmer’s market! Watch for local vegetables, fruits, honey, eggs, meat, cheeses, crafts, jams, jellies, canned goods, baked goods, pre-made healthy meals and more. More information to come. Open rain or shine.

5.) Summer camps for kids offered; discounts for faculty and staff
Registration deadline May 9; camps July 28 to Aug. 1
A&S and JCC are collaborating to offer two summer days camps July 28 to August 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Mysteries of History is for grades 6-8 and 2D Art Camp for grades 4-8. All UofL faculty, staff, students and alumni will get 10 percent off the JCC member rates for either of these two camps! One week will cost $216. That is $74 off the non-member rate! 9.) Family and Geriatric Medicine presents Kendra Sheppard, MD

Kendra Sheppard, MD, assistant professor, department of medicine/division of gerontology, University of Alabama at Birmingham, presents Using Interprofessional Education to Advance Geriatric Education Among Trainees. She will discuss the creation of the interprofessional clinical experience for trainees of different disciplines; discuss using the nursing home as a novel setting for interprofessional education; evaluate the impact of an interprofessional clinical experience on attitudinal change.
