    The No. 4-ranked Louisville baseball team leads all programs with four players named as semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the top player in collegiate baseball. Drew Harrington, Brendan McKay, Corey Ray and Nick Solak are among the 43 semifinalists. The winner will be announced June 9.

    UofL Today with Mark Hebert

    1.) WHAS-TV, Great Day Live

    Mondays at 9:30 a.m. UofL’s Mark Hebert has a story about UofL and talks with Rachel Platt and Terry Meiners about campus events.  Segments can be found on YouTube. Check out the segment from May 23 on the Conn Center’s Phoenix House. WLKY-TV also runs the UofL stories on its Saturday morning newscasts.

     

    2.) Radio Show

    Airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. on 93.9 FM The Ville; replayed on Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m.

    Hebert hosts two weekly 30-minute programs focusing on research, programs, successful students and insights from UofL’s faculty experts. This week’s schedule:

    5.) Commonwealth Credit Union mini branch closing; direct-to-you services provided 

    Mini branch hours (SAC, Room 104) through Friday, May 27 are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday – Friday. Direct-to-you services can be provided anytime, anywhere on campus. 

    Due to SAC construction, Commonwealth CU’s temporary branch will close after May 27. Its Belknap Campus permanent location is scheduled to open this summer. As part of its commitment to enthusiastic and personalized service, the Commonwealth team will come to you at the campus location of your choosing. Want to learn about membership benefits?     7.) Openings Remain for Delphi U Online Summer 2016

    June 13-Aug. 7; Online; Free

    Openings still remain for the Summer offering of Delphi U Online. Get many of your questions and concerns about online courses answered in this 8-week long workshop. Participants will learn two primary concepts: What it is like to be an online learner and how to effectively teach online. This is for full and part-time faculty planning to teach a new fully online course or enhance an online course between Summer 2016 and Summer 2017. Registration is now open, so apply now.

    10.) Safe Zone Project Workshop on HSC

    June 3, 12-1:30 p.m., Abell Building Room A110; Free

    The Safe Zone Project Program of the LGBT Center provides education on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community that contributes to a safe and welcoming experience for all members of the university community. The Safe Zone training for HSC additionally helps participants understand LGBT-specific healthcare concerns. RSVP is required by June 1st.

    11.) Volunteers needed for Dissertation Study

    May, 12-2 p.m., 2-4 p.m., Davidson Hall 316

    Mentally and physically healthy women, ages 18-40, are needed for a dissertation study on stress, emotion and the immune system. This study aims to better understand how stress and emotions are connected to health. No chronic conditions, current psychiatric diagnoses or medications (birth control OK). Single, 2-hour afternoon visit on Belknap campus. Eligible participants will be entered into a lottery for one of two $50 Visa prepaid cards. Please email for full eligibility criteria.

    Every Tuesday, drop in 5:30-5:55 p.m.; Get Healthy Now Wellness Center at Humana Gym 601 Presidents Blvd.; price varies; open to UofL employees, retirees, and their spouse/QA

    Experience Get Healthy Now’s mindfulness offerings in collaboration with Dr. Paul Salmon, associate professor in psychological and brain sciences. Experience the many health-enhancing benefits of reflection, stillness and being fully present. Come to a free Tuesday evening session or deepen your practice with the eight-session MBSR program ($80).

    A strong core can improve athletic performance, posture, and can reduce back pain. Using weights, balls, bands, gliding discs and your own body weight as resistance, this class will help strengthen your core, sculpt your body and burn calories.
