    DID YOU KNOW?

     

    Four UofL students killed in action early in World War II had barracks buildings named in their honor that once stood near Belknap Campus. They were: Robert Lawrence Leopold, ensign, USNR; Bethel Veech Otter, lieutenant, USNR; Herbert Hugo Menges, ensign, USNR; and Robert Gabriel White, ensign, USNR.

    Topic: “Deciphering the metabolic origins of heart failure: A question of balance.” The Diabetes and Obesity Center Seminar Series is pleased to present Dr. Daniel Kelly, Tavistock distinguished professor and scientific director of the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute at Lake Nona. Dr. Kelly will discuss the metabolic origins of heart failure. All interested individuals are welcome to attend.

    This week’s Neuroscience Grand Rounds will be held at the same time and same location as usual, except is taking place on Friday instead of Thursday. Dr. Andrei Krassioukov, professor of medicine and physical medicine and rehab, and chair of rehabilitation medicine at the University of British Columbia, will present Abnormal cardiovascular control following spinal cord injury. Are the plastic changes within spinal cord to blame? CME and CEU credit will be given to MDs, DOs, and RNs.
