    DID YOU KNOW

    For the first time in 21 years, UofL’s annual drag and variety show, PINK, will take place off campus — at Play Dance Bar. The show is usually held at the SAC, which remains under renovation. PINK is the longest running student-organized fundraiser on campus. It will be held March 30 at 7 p.m., with proceeds benefiting students served by the LGBT Center.

     

     

    FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES

    Fannie Cox, outreach and reference librarian, recently received an Educational Enrichment Award from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Eta Omega Chapter (Louisville), for her partnership with their ASCEND Youth Enrichment Program for teaching high school students how to use the library’s resources to find grants and scholarships for college.

    UofL hosts the third annual AFSP Out of the Darkness Campus Walk

    April 8, 2:30-5 p.m., The Quad in front of the Humanities Building, Belknap Campus
    UofL AFSP Out of the Darkness Campus Walk. Individuals and teams are encouraged to show their pride and compete in contests. The winning team will lead the walk. Mark’s Charity Feed Day fundraiser is Thursday, March 29 at UofL SAC and the Highlands store where 15% of sales will be donated. Print voucher here. Walkers registered before noon on Friday April 6 will be eligible for prize drawings. Register online.

    UofL Women’s Basketball Sweet 16 ticket information

    The Louisville women’s basketball team has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. First-seeded Louisville will travel down I-64 to Rupp Arena on Friday to take on the winner of No. 4 Stanford and No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast University. Secure your seats now to give the Cardinals a home court advantage in the Bluegrass State.     Butterfly Effect Prom Dress Drive

    Gently used or new prom dresses, tuxedos, accessories, and other prom-related items for high school students are being accepted through March 23 for the Butterfly Effect Prom Dress Drive.     Spring Football Practice

    PLAN offers workshop on understanding and effectively utilizing your leadership style

    Registration open for Course Design Institute with Dee Fink

    May 15-17, Teaching Innovation Learning Lab (Ekstrom Library #302)
    Dee Fink will return to UofL to lead a three-day intensive course design opportunity for faculty. This institute will help you expand your vision of the kinds of learning that are possible and provide you with support as you design courses for Significant Learning (i.e., learning that truly makes a difference in the way students think, act and feel after college).     Medicine Grand Rounds: 2018 Charles C. Smith Jr. Lecture – Dr. Vinay Prasad

    The UofL Dept. of Medicine welcomes Vinay K. Prasad, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Oregon Health & Sciences University School of Medicine to present the 2018 Charles C. Smith Jr. Lecture, “Medical Reversal.” Dr. Prasad’s talk will focus on answering the questions of what is medical reversal and how do we stop it, and how we can better read medical literature.
