7.) Mark your calendar for Cardinal Camo Run
8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 29, George J. Howe Red Barn
The Inaugural Cardinal Camo Run is a fundraising event celebrating military and veteran students and their families. The event consists of a walk/run (approximately 5k), family events (bounce house, craft table, rock climbing wall and more), and a campus/community organization fair. The event is open to UofL students and the Kentuckiana community. All runners receive a t-shirt and lunch. Register here. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, suggested donation of $25.

8.) Cyclists Unite: Group bike rides to campus
7:30 a.m., March 20, Beargrass Nature Preserve to Belknap (leaves from intersection of Trevilian Way & Ridgefield Road)
Free to employees, students, retirees and spouses/QAs
Get Healthy Now and the UofL Office of Sustainability are organizing monthly group bike commutes to campus from various locations. All experience levels are welcome. Riders receive a brief orientation and Louisville bike map. Participants provide their own bicycle and accessories (helmet required). Today’s ride is 4 miles from Beargrass Nature Preserve to Belknap Campus (approximately 15 to 20 minutes). Waiver form required for participation.

We will cut up magazines, make posters, color and create masterpieces that help us to remember to slow down, de-stress and enjoy life.

11.) Computer repair to close permanently April 30
This change only impacts repair for personally purchased computer hardware. Servicing of university owned equipment is not affected by this change. Repairs in progress will be completed, but no additional equipment will be accepted for repair after this date. Help with malware removal, passwords and other software related issues will remain available from the iTech Connect office located on the lower level of Miller Information Technology Center.

12.) University websites must upgrade to Plone 4 by June 30
Departments have until June 30 to rebuild their websites in the upgraded Plone 4 system. The new system features tripled speed, mobile-friendly design, Adobe Flash integration and more.

13.) Deadline Friday for 2014 Trustees Award Nominations
The deadline for the university community to nominate faculty members for the 2014 Trustees Award has been extended to Friday, March 21. The Trustees Award recognizes faculty members who have had an extraordinary impact on students’ college experience. Nomination instructions and forms may be obtained through any academic department or via the web.

14.) Last chance to register: Help students articulate and examine their assumptions
Noon to 2 p.m., March 21 Delphi Lab, Ekstrom Library
Getting students to articulate and examine the assumptions they have about themselves, the subject matter or their role as learners is a significant challenge for most instructors. In this session, we will delve into this domain of thinking by sharing and practicing teaching strategies designed to help students engage in systemic self-reflection regarding their assumptions. Lunch is served; preregistration is required.

16.) Adult Learner Awards deadline March 21
Applications due Friday at 5 p.m.
The Adult Learner Awards recognize the accomplishments of adult students and the faculty and staff members who help serve them. Students must be currently enrolled and need a minimum GPA of 3.0 and 15 completed credit hours. Graduate students need a minimum GPA of 3.25 and completed a minimum of nine credit hours at UofL. Faculty/staff must have worked with an adult student.

17.) Changes coming to PARC Smart Cards on Health Science Campus
The Parking Authority of River City (PARC) is in the process of upgrading its parking meters near the university medical facilities. The upgraded meters will no longer accept PARC Smart Cards, but will allow patrons to pay with a credit card or a mobile device. PARC is hoping to have the meter upgrades complete by early April.

18.) Call for Nominations for Outstanding Community Engagement Awards
April 28, submission deadline
Nominations are being accepted for the sixth Annual Outstanding Community Engagement Awards, which recognize faculty, staff, students and community partners involved in outstanding community engagement service. A monetary award of $2,500 will go to each recipient engaged in exemplary community engagement activities such as volunteerism, community based learning, outreach, partnerships, curricular engagement or community based research.
