    DID YOU KNOW?

    Today, March 18, is Match Day for the approximately 150 fourth-year students at the UofL  School of Medicine. On this day, students from med schools across the country gather to learn where they will continue their education, including where they will live and what specialty they will pursue. Each student receives an envelope to be opened at high noon.

    1.) Join the Dept. of Surgery’s Glo Run Team, ‘Goin’ Glowin’ for Owen’

    May 28, 9:30 a.m., 5K Run/Walk Waterfront Park (1201 River Road)

    The UofL Department of Surgery has created a team for the Glo Run in memory of Owen McMasters who lost his four-year battle with leukemia on Feb. 15. McMasters was dedicated to helping other children with cancer. He and his family supported and promoted Sharing America’s Marrow, a local movement that spread nationally to register 50,000 people as potential bone marrow donors.

    2.) Put the ‘fun’ in Functional Fitness

    Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., Get Healthy Now Wellness Center, Humana Gym

    Free for GHN Wellness Center members

    This class focuses on core fitness that can translate into daily activities and incorporates all of the major muscle groups as well as muscles you never knew you had. You will get efficient, quality, functional movements that will enhance and nourish your spine, revitalize your postural muscles and strengthen your core with every movement. Exercises are shown at different skill levels so each person can work to their own individual competency.

    4.) Chamber Music Society Concert Series will feature Lorelei Ensemble

    The Chamber Music Society presents Lorelei Ensemble. A pre-concert lecture will be held at 2 p.m., in the Music Building room 130. Chamber Music Society of Louisville Concert Series events are free for subscribers of the CMS, $25 for non-subscribers & $5 for students with ID.
