    On July 1, the University of Louisville is joining the Atlantic Coast Conference! Between now and then, UofL Today is bringing you a few tidbits every day about the 14 other ACC schools. Later, we will use this spot for daily morsels of information about UofL.

     

    Did you know … North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, N.C., has more than 34,000 total students and is the largest four-year institution in that state. Its landmark Belltower is a 115-foot monument that honors NC State alumni killed in World War I, and is illuminated by red floodlights to mark significant university occasions and achievements.     The James Graham Brown Cancer Center and Family Scholar House are included on a list of 12 Louisville charities that made it to the next round for a $5,000 reward from the online lifestyle publication StyleBlueprint. Voting is weekly—the list is cut in half each week, with 50 percent of the highest vote-getters moving on to the next round. Voting for this week ends at 7 p.m. today … and then just six will be left. Vote here!

    3.) Grant Crafting Brown Bag Series: Statistical Consulting

    The Grant Crafting Brown Bag Series is presented by the A&S and CEHD Research Offices. This session, led by Guy Brock, associate professor in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics and director of the statistical consulting Center (StCC) in the School of Public Health and Information Sciences, will focus on how the StCC can improve your grant proposals and assist with your research projects.     4.) Come help ‘green’ the law school

    June 26 to July 12, Brandeis School of Law courtyards

    The law school is inviting students, staff, faculty and alumni to help transform its courtyards into native landscaped spaces this summer. Volunteers are needed to do prep work June 26 to 29, transport plants July 7 to 8 and help with planting July 9 to 12. The new park-like spaces will be available for use by the entire campus community.

    5.) See Shakespeare in the Park’s ‘Hamlet’ with professor Julia Dietrich

    July 12, 6:30 p.m., Quill’s Coffee in Cardinal Towne and Central Park

    Free

    Please join us for a Shakespeare in the Park’s production of “Hamlet.” Meet at Quill’s Coffee in Cardinal Towne for a lecture/discussion on “Hamlet” led by English professor Julia Dietrich. After the lecture, the group will walk to Central Park for the 8 p.m. performance by the Kentucky Shakespeare Co. There will be food trucks on site at the park. This is the fifth installment of the A&S Faculty Field Trip series. Free and open to the public, but registration required.
