    DID YOU KNOW?

     

    On July 1, the University of Louisville is joining the Atlantic Coast Conference! Between now and then, UofL Today is bringing you a few tidbits every day about the 14 other ACC schools. Later, we will use this spot for daily morsels of information about UofL.

     

    Did you know … the tallest educational building in the Western Hemisphere is on the campus of The University of Pittsburgh, or Pitt. The Cathedral of Learning, a Gothic Revival skyscraper, includes 30 Nationality Rooms representing the cultures of ethnic groups living in Pittsburgh. Pitt has a total of more than 35,000 students spread across five campuses. Read more here.

    2.) Veterans Hospital no longer delivered through Campus Mail

    As of June 30, mail for the Veterans Administration Hospital will no longer be accepted through campus mail. Please see our news item for more details.

    3.) July EndNote class to be held at Kornhauser

    July 16, 10 to 11:30 a.m., Kornhauser Library, History Room

    Free to the UofL community

    EndNote is a software program for Mac or PC used to create bibliographies, import/export references from databases, convert references to a chosen citation style and manage PDFs. Classes will be in the Kornhauser History Room. Software available at http://louisville.edu/it/compsoftware/available.

    4.) Kornhauser Library summer schedule begins June 28

    The Kornhauser Library summer schedule is effective June 28 to August 3. Hours are: Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., Closed Sundays. Also closed Friday, July 4, for Independence Day.

    5.) School of Medicine grant programs: submission deadline July 1

    The School of Medicine Research Committee administers the Basic, Bridge, and Collaborative Matching Grant programs to provide financial support to School of Medicine faculty. These awards have been increased up to $25,000 for Basic, $40,000 for Bridge and $50,000 for Collaborative with $25,000 in matched funds. The next cycle’s submission deadline is July 1.
