    1.) Team captains still needed for UofL Heart Walk

    Belknap breakfast, July 9, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., MITC 201

    The third annual UofL Heart Walk is scheduled for Sept. 20, and we are looking for individuals to serve as Team Captains. Nearly 700 people from across campus have helped raise more than $50,000 for the American Heart Association in this event during the past two years! Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in Kentucky. Join us as we raise money for research to combat cardiovascular diseases.

    2.) Volunteer at Welcome Week 2014

    First Year Initiatives and campus partners will welcome new and returning students to campus with Welcome Week 2014, Aug. 20 to 24. It’s a team effort to make these events the best they can be and we need your help! If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out this form. The form includes details (where and when, length of shift, specific volunteer duties, etc.) For a complete schedule of events, click here.

    3.) Lab Safety and Hazardous Waste Training and Radiation Safety Orientation

    July 10, 9 a.m. to noon, Donald Baxter Building, Multipurpose Room 038

    Free

    Recently hired lab employees who work with chemicals should attend the Lab Safety/Hazardous Waste session, 9 to 11 a.m. Recurrent training for lab employees is required every three years. Individuals who will work with or around radioactive materials should attend the Radiation Safety Orientation session, which is from 11:05 a.m. to noon. Bring employee/student ID number to sign in.

    4.) EndNote workshop to be held

    July 9, 10:30 a.m. to noon, Ekstrom Library, Room W102

    Free to UofL community

    Attendees will learn the basic features of citation management. EndNote allows you to export citations from databases like PubMed and EBSCO as well as insert in-text and bibliography references when typing papers in Microsoft Word. Class is limited to 10. Register here.

Get Healthy Now and the Great Places to Work Work-Life Balance Committee host a monthly series geared towards employees caring for a grand/child, parent, relative or friend. The monthly workshop is designed to provide access to important resources, inspire group support and promote self-care. The series is held the third Tuesday of each month. Mark your calendar for Relationship Dynamics: Endure Change and Challenges, presented by Judith C. Heitzman.
