    Did You Know?

    The mosaic in the law school’s classroom wing was created by the late Harold Berg and dedicated in 1982. Berg, a Louisville surgeon, made a hobby out of designing mosaics, each including at least one human tooth. The law school mosaic’s tooth can be seen in the belt of Lady Justice.

    UofL Today with Mark Hebert

    1.) WHAS-TV, Great Day Live

    Mondays at 9:30 a.m. UofL’s Mark Hebert has a story about UofL and talks with Rachel Platt and Terry Meiners about campus events.  Segments can be found on YouTube.  

    • Tuesday, July 5 – Fort Knox and U.S. Army hosts skydivers from UofL
    • WLKY-TV also runs the UofL stories on their Saturday morning newscasts

     

    2.) Radio Show

    Airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. on 93.9 FM The Ville; replayed on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Hebert hosts two weekly 30-minute programs focusing on research, programs, successful students and insights from UofL’s faculty experts. This week’s schedule:

    • Tuesday, July 5 – UofL political science prof Jason Abbott from Manchester, England talks about his vote for Brexit and possible political and economic impact; Cedric Powell from law school discusses Supreme Court rulings on race in college admissions and Texas abortion clinic regs; Dr. Amy Holthouser on new curriculum for medical school students related to opiods
    • Wednesday, July 6 – College of Education and Human Development dean Ann Larson discusses teacher training, outreach, SPAD and research; Dr. Rob Friedland on Alzheimers research and how gut and mouth bacteria may play a role

    4.) New endorsement stamps required for gift funds

    Effective immediately with the new fiscal year, if you are sending over gift funds to be deposited by Advancement Services you will be required to use a new Foundation Account Endorsement Stamp.  Remember, all checks must be appropriately endorsed prior to sending them over for deposit.  If this will affect you, please contact Judy Singleton to obtain a new endorsement stamp.

    5.) Welcome Week 2016 volunteers needed

    First Year Initiatives and campus partners will welcome new and returning students to campus with Welcome Week 2016, Aug. 17-21. It’s a team effort to make these events the best they can be and we need your help. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out the form. The form includes details (where and when, length of shift, specific volunteer duties, etc.)
