    UofL’s former Graduate School, now The School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies, was established in 1915, though advanced degrees were awarded as early as 1908. Other advanced courses were offered by the Schools of Medicine and Law as early as 1856.

    Today’s farmers markets: Don’t miss out!

    1.) Gray Street

    Thursdays through Oct. 30, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., 400 block of E. Gray Street, rain or shine

    Some items available today will include: watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, blueberries, golden beets, corn, green beans, squash, zucchini, cabbage, potatoes, cucumbers, onions and bell peppers. Also old-world style Italian cheeses, Mr. G’s Kettle Corn, small tomato pies, chocolate zucchini brownies, caramel granola cookies, peach jam, jalapeno jam, veggie pancakes, miso noodles, fresh cut flowers and salty caramel apple turnovers. Lunch options will be Holy Mole taco truck and Red Top Gourmet Hot Dogs.

    Thursdays through Oct. 16, 3:30 to 6 p.m., 3rd and Brandeis, rain or shine

    Some items available today include: peaches, blueberries, golden beets, corn, green beans, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, potatoes, peppers, onions and pasture-raised poultry (frozen) , lamb (frozen)  and eggs. Also cinnamon rolls, breads and locally made tea. This week’s entertainment will be rhythmic guitarist and Louisville native Stuart Wicke, a singer/songwriter who has performed with Danny Flanigan, Ben Sollee and others.

    3.) Cards Under the Stars presents ‘The Lego Movie’ Friday

    July 25, 6:30 p.m., lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall. The film begins at dusk.

    Free

    The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with children’s inflatables, games and a Lego-themed photo area. The J.B. Speed School of Engineering will host a demonstration table featuring Lego robotics. The school will also give away one 2015 Speed School Lego Camp scholarship to a child in attendance. Bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket and a picnic dinner or purchase food and drinks from Sweet ‘N’ Savory and Jam Pan food trucks. The film will begin at dusk.     July 25, 8 a.m., Norton Hospital, Wade Mountz (2nd floor) Auditorium

    Michael Foster, MD, will present, A Pediatric Endocrinology Retrospective: Old Dog Barks Back. Dr. Foster will review advances in diabetes treatment, diagnosis and treatment of growth disorders, treatment of central precocious puberty and newborn screening since 1982.
