    1.) Cards Under the Stars: Big Hero 6

    July 10, 6:30 p.m., on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall, movie begins at dusk

    Free admission

    Grab a blanket, lawn chairs and a cooler and bring the family for a screening of the film “Big Hero 6.” Let the kids enjoy our inflatable park, play games, “Big Hero 6” photo area and other activities. Bring a picnic or purchase concessions from Mangia and POLLO food trucks.  And don’t forget, Cards Under the Stars returns July 24 with the 2015 live-action film “Cinderella.”

    2.) UofL Night at Shakespeare in the Park

    July 23, 7 to 10:30 p.m., C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheatre, Central Park, 1340 S. 4th St.

    UofL alumni and friends are invited to join the UofL Alumni Association, the College of Arts and Sciences and Kentucky Shakespeare for UofL Night at Shakespeare in the Park. Rinda Frye, UofL professor emerita, will speak about Shakespeare’s Magical Metaphysical Theatre at 7:15 p.m. followed by Kentucky Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at 8 p.m.

    6.) Free information security training session to be held

    July 8, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Ekstrom Library Chao Auditorium

    Free

    This session is presented by the university’s Info Security Office and is free and open to all faculty and staff. Topics include: identifying and protecting “sensitive data” and KY’s new privacy law (HB5) and how it impacts you. We will also cover tips to help you protect your work and personal data.     7.) Work day and harvest today

    July 1, noon to 2 p.m., Department of Urban and Public Affairs

    Come one and all! Interested in learning about gardening and sustainability? Please join us today. We will be weeding, watering, planting more seedlings, spraying vegetables with compost tea (organic pesticide) and harvesting . No prior experience needed. Tools and gloves are provided. Volunteers will be able to take home fresh herbs.

    8.) Tough Times in 1815 and 1816

    July 1, 1 to 3 p.m., Locust Grove, 561 Blankenbaker Lane

    $5, $3 for Friends of Locust Grove

    Lynn Renau, author of several books of Kentucky history, will discuss the hard years of 1815 and 1816 for the Croghan family and their Brownsboro Road neighbors. She will discuss the impact of poor crops, flooding, murder at Oxmoor and legal challenges in a month-by-month account of early 19th century Kentucky lives and livelihoods. Locust Grove is a member of A&S’s Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships.
