DID YOU KNOW?
The UofL Quiz Bowl Team swept both divisions of the Kentucky Collegiate Quick Recall League tournament held last month. Computer engineering/computer science major Ramapriya Rangaraju was the top overall scorer in the academic tournament, and UofL is leading both Division I and Division II at the halfway point of the 2014-2015 KCQRL season. The team resumes tournament play Feb. 21 at EKU. Read more here.

2.) Attention early risers: New fitness class offered at HSC Fitness Center
HSC Fitness Center, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:15 to 7 a.m.
Students free, faculty and staff $30 per semester for all group fitness classes
The HSC Fitness Center is offering a new class from 6:15 to 7 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This Boot Camp group fitness class has been added at an earlier time to appeal to people who have not been able to participate in classes at noon or 5 p.m. Registration includes not only these classes but any of the classes offered at the HSC Fitness Center.

3.) Delphi Center offers “Transforming the Teaching and Learning Environment”

The Delphi Center is pleased to offer faculty and staff unlimited access to Transforming the Teaching and Learning Environment: the PASSHE Virtual Conference, which includes 60 one-hour online sessions on titles from Emerging Technologies to Organizational Best Practices to Mobile Learning and more. All sessions will also be recorded and can be viewed on demand.

4.) Calling all research tools
Has your lab produced unique purified proteins, modified cell lines, monoclonal antibody stocks, mouse models or unique plasmids? The Office of Technology Transfer is interested in speaking with faculty regarding commercialization potential of faculty research tools.

5.) Kornhauser Library services unavailable on Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
Kornhauser Library services will be unavailable January 19 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The building will remain open but library staff will not be on hand to provide assistance. Regular library service hours will resume at 7 a.m. Jan. 20.

Interested in advancing equity for women and girls? The UofL Women’s Center is hosting an interest meeting for staff who may be interested in organizing an on-campus AAUW (American Association of University Women) group for staff. Come and learn more about an organization who has empowered women over the years. Speakers will include Susan Baker and Charlaine Reynolds, current and immediate past president of the Louisville AAUW chapter.

We offer training, resources, service opportunities and certification as an advocate for sustainability. Anastassios Koumbourlis, MD, is a professor of pediatrics and chief of the division of pulmonary and sleep medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine and Children’s National Health System in Washington, D.C. He will be presenting the “Pulmonary Complications of Neuromuscular Disease.”
